Trailword — Privacy Policy

Last updated 23 September 2026

The short version. Your puzzle progress never leaves your phone. Trailword has no accounts and no servers of its own. The one thing that does leave your device is the advertising identifier Google's ad system uses, and only when you choose to watch an advert.

What stays on your device

Everything you do in the game — which puzzles you have solved, your times, your streak, your statistics — is stored only in the app's own storage on your phone. It is not uploaded anywhere, because there is nowhere to upload it to. Uninstalling the app deletes it.

What is collected, and by whom

Trailword shows rewarded adverts through Google AdMob. When an advert is requested, Google's advertising SDK collects information described in Google's own documentation, including:

DataWhy
Advertising ID (a resettable identifier) To select adverts and limit how often the same one is shown
Approximate location, derived from IP address To serve adverts appropriate to your country
Device and app information To deliver adverts that work on your device, and to detect fraud

This data is collected by Google, not by us. We never see it, and we have no database of our own that it could be added to. Google's handling of it is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

Word definitions

Tapping a word you have found opens a web search for its definition in your browser. That is an ordinary web search, subject to the privacy policy of whichever search engine and browser you use. Trailword does not send anything about you along with it — only the word.

Children

Trailword is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this app, please contact us and we will act on it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
